Basic Needlepoint Stitches

Tent Stitches:  Basketweave or Continental Stitch

Tent Stitch is a stitch going from bottom left to top right over one canvas intersection.

Continental is a tent stitch in a straight line.  The Continental stitch can be worked row-by-row either horizontally or vertically.  It is always slanted up to the right over one canvas intersection.

Basketweave is a tent stitch in a diagonal pattern.  Basketweave is worked over one canvas intersection in a diagonal pattern.  This is used for larger areas such as background and gives a smooth consistent diagonal stitch.
